There are countless vertical jump programs on the market today. It's hard to know which ones are good and which are poor programs. As an experienced buyer, I can give you reviews on some programs and say what I have heard about others. I have trained with Air Alert 2, Jumpsoles, Sky's the Limit, and am currently working on Maximum Vertical in Minimum Time. However, all of you must realize that just because a program costs money doesn't mean it's better! This program is just as good as any program you can buy, probably better because it's specialized.

Air Alert 2 - Possibly the most popular vertical jumping program in the world, however it is not a very good program! It is not thorough, but the beginner will get excellent gains with it. It is cheap, and it guarantees 8-12 inches in 12 weeks. It is very difficult though. At 5 days of workouts a week, the risk of overtraining is high. DO NOT use AA2 during the season. I myself gained roughly 7 inches with Air Alert as a beginner. The thing is, all the exercises are strength building plyos, which give you very good strength in the main muscle groups - the quads, calves, upper calves, and hamstrings to a lower extent. I don't have a problem with beginners doing this program, but ballers with any jump training experience won't gain at all!

Platform Shoes - There is a lot of argument on whether platform shoes work or not. From personal experience with Jumpsoles, I have little good to say about them. I did gain a little from them and they made me much quicker, but when I stopped using them, I lost most of my gains. With the extra weight on the foot, there is a good risk of losing gains when you stop using them. However, if you keep using them, they are a decent training tool. The price is quite steep and the workout itself is as hard as you make it, depending on how heavy of weights you use. If you were to keep traning with them, platform shoes could be a valuable training tool. Definitely something good to try if you hit a plateau. It would hit the muscle in a different way, allowing you to gain.

The Explosive Vertical Program (basketballpro.com) - I have not tried this program, but I have heard that it is a very good program. It emphasizes quality over quantity workouts, which is very good. The workouts are as short as 20 minutes. I don't believe it's possible to get a complete workout in this time, but if you have no time to workout it may be worth checking out.

Skys the Limit - A very good program, definitely the best free one on the Internet. It focuses on the stablizer (balacing muscles) as well as the larger muscle groups. As well, Ant knows a great deal about vertical training and he answers any questions you may have through email or on his feedback board. Skys the Limit promises gains of 10-13 inches in 15 weeks. The workouts are not extremely hard and you do it 4 days a week. You can also mix plyometrics in the program as well. People have reported very good gains in the testimonials section. Definitely worth checking out. I recommend this program for someone with no weights. I myself didn't gain much at all with this program, but that doesn't mean you won't. My workouts were not great because I trained with it during the season.

Maximum Vertical in Minimum Time - Without question the best vertical training program ever created. It makes every other program look terrible in comparison. It is a very intense and difficult program and promises better gains than you've received with any other program. The price is very steep, but if you really want to increase your vertical, money shouldn't be an option. The workouts are 6 days a week and involve weights and plyometrics, but different exercises than you've ever seen. The workouts range from an hour to two hours, and a good weight system is definitely needed. (Leg Press, Leg extension, squat racks, bench rack, etc.) I love this program. It explains everything you need to know about jumping in so much detail so you are a more knowledeable trainer. Warning: Training intensely 6 days a week, the risk of overtraining is high. You won't overtrain just doing the program, but playing a lot of competitive ball or lifting other upper body weights, there's a good chance of overtraining. Sorry, I no longer have an extra order form.

There are also many other programs on the web, such as Madups, Wholelotta game, and Increase your Vertical Leap. These programs are all good, but they are not the best programs available because they don't train all the major groups properly and/or thoroughly, whether they say it or not. However I have some respect for the Wholelotta game jumping program and rate it above the others.
